Today, my father turned 70. It’s really something to celebrate. But it also means that he will now retire, and that my parents have just had to move out of their house.

The question begs: “What now? What should he do now that he’s becoming a former priest?”

The answer is as simple as it is surprising: He continues!

Not with his weekly sermons, of course, but by continuing to do what he has done for the past 40 years, i.e. writing and talking about religion, philosophy, arts etc.

Here I’m of course referring to the digital world. More specifically he just launched a website/blog as well as Twitter handle. So now he has a place to talk and he will no doubt build a following/audience.

On his blog, he can even do a spoken sermon each and every Sunday if he wants to.

It’s almost as if retirement never happened.

I think it’s interesting to see how digital can make a big difference even (or rather even more) after retirement.

Good luck and Happy Birthday, Dad!

And to the rest of you: Make sure to follow, read, listen and share what my father’s doing.
